How is NPS Contribution Calculated?
This calculator first combines the Basic Pay and DA amounts entered by you and then applies the employee and employer contribution percentages.
NPS Contribution Calculation Example
This example demonstrates the calculation using illustrative contribution rates.
Suppose the contribution salary is ₹50,000. For illustration, assume an employee contribution rate of 10% and an employer contribution rate of 14%.
Employee contribution: ₹50,000 × 10% = ₹5,000
Employer contribution: ₹50,000 × 14% = ₹7,000
Total monthly contribution: ₹5,000 + ₹7,000 = ₹12,000
Estimated annual contribution: ₹12,000 × 12 = ₹1,44,000
The percentages used above are for demonstrating the calculation. Verify the contribution rates applicable to your own employment or NPS arrangement.
Which NPS Contribution Rates Should You Use?
NPS contribution requirements can depend on the subscriber's employment category, employer, applicable Government rules, service conditions and other scheme requirements.
The calculator therefore allows both contribution percentages to be edited. Verify the rates and contribution base applicable to your situation before relying on the estimate.
