Calculation Method

How is Dearness Allowance Calculated?

To calculate Dearness Allowance, multiply the eligible basic pay by the applicable DA percentage and divide the result by 100. This calculator performs that calculation using the basic pay and DA rate entered by you.

Dearness Allowance Basic Pay × DA Percentage ÷ 100
Basic Pay + DA Basic Pay + Dearness Allowance
Example

DA Calculation Example

The following example demonstrates how the mathematical calculation works.

Suppose your basic pay is ₹30,100 and, for illustration, you want to calculate DA at 60%.

DA = ₹30,100 × 60 ÷ 100

DA = ₹18,060

Basic Pay + DA = ₹30,100 + ₹18,060 = ₹48,160

The 60% rate above is used only to demonstrate the calculation. Use the officially applicable DA percentage for the salary period you are calculating.

Which DA Rate Should You Use?

DA rates can change following Government decisions and may apply from specified effective dates. Therefore, the percentage entered in this calculator should correspond to the salary period you want to calculate.

For an authoritative DA rate, refer to the relevant Government notification, office memorandum or other official order applicable to your employment and pay period.
